Appointment Ceremony Held for 16th Workers’ National Smile Team On November 22, the appointment ceremony of the 16th Workers’ National Smile Team was held at Tmark Grand Hotel Myeongdong, Seoul. Exemplary workers in various fields gathered to renew their commitment to making Korea more welcoming for foreigners. Before the event, the workers wore a flower corsage and posed for a shot at the photo zone. Living up to their reputation as members of the National Smile Team, their bright smiles were more beautiful than any flower. At this ceremony, a total of 110 workers were appointed from nine fields, including tourist police, transportation, and immigration and customs. Being the first to welcome foreign tourists to Korea, they showed great pride in their profession. The ceremony kicked off with opening remarks and a congratulatory speech by Secretary-General Han Kyung-ah and Acting Chair Kim Hong-ju. The most memorable part of the speech was that kindness—the key to making Korea a country to re-visit —is simply smiling at visitors, and treating them with warmth and sincerity. Visit Korea Committee’s Key Programs Promoted at 2018 Korea-China Tourism Exchange in Beijing The 2018 Korea-China Tourism Exchange Event was held in Beijing, China on November 14. With China beginning to lift the ban on group tours to Korea, the Visit Korea Committee visited Beijing to promote its key programs, including the 2016–2018 Visit Korea Year and the Korea Grand Sale. As part of efforts to promote its programs, the Visit Korea Committee held B2B consulting sessions for local travel agencies, related organizations, and media representatives. Staff members are passionately introducing the Visit Korea Committee’s programs to a local travel agent. The local attendees were especially interested in developing tour packages in conjunction with the upcoming Korea Grand Sale. The high turnout at the Korea-China Tourism Exchange Night, featuring promotional video clips and congratulatory performances, was another sign of great interest in traveling to Korea. Now that more Chinese tourists can visit Korea, the Visit Korea Committee will continue to do its best to actively promote Korea tourism.

Korea Grand Sale 2019 Briefing Held
Korea Grand Sale 2019 Briefing Held The Korea Grand Sale 2019 is just around the corner. Companies participating in the Korea Grand Sale gathered to attend a briefing session in the hopes of making the festival a bigger success. This briefing session was held at CGV Myeongdong Cinelibrary. The Visit Korea Committee prepared delicious snacks for the attendees. Shall we take a closer look? Many eager attendees arrived early for the event. The session enjoyed a high turnout, and the entire cinema was filled. The session kicked off with a welcoming address by Han Kyung-ah, the secretary-general of the Visit Korea Committee. She was pleased that the Korea Grand Sale is already celebrating its tenth anniversary, and promised to do her best for the success of the nationwide festival, which combines shopping, tourism and the Korean wave. This was followed by a general introduction of events prepared as part of the Korea Grand Sale. The preparations begun in August, and you can expect a wide range of offline and online promotions, all organized to deliver the highest satisfaction. We cannot wait for the Korea Grand Sale to start! This year, a new addition is the MGlass advertisement at the Cheonggye Plaza Event Center. The attendees at the briefing session got a sneak peek through a special demonstration. The last part of the session was a Q&A for participating companies to inquire about the Korea Grand Sale. It was very productive, with many companies sharing their insights and bringing up concerns. The Visit Korea Committee will continue to work hard for the success of the Korea Grand Sale.

2016–2018 Visit Korea Year Promoted at 2018 Korea Culture and Tourism Festival in UAE From November 1 to 3, the 2018 Korea Culture and Tourism Festival was held at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Let’s head to Abu Dhabi and check out the Visit Korea Committee’s latest promotional efforts. The festival at Abu Dhabi’s Beach Rotana Hotel kicked off with an opening ceremony.   In addition to a non-verbal performance and a traditional culture performance, the 2018 Korea Culture and Tourism Festival in UAE raised awareness of Korean culture through a 3D experience of Korea and a Najeon-chilgi lacquerware workshop. The Visit Korea Committee prepared various souvenirs and events to welcome visitors to its booth. One of the most popular events was Yut, a traditional Korean game. On the last day, a Korea tourism seminar was held for related organizations and local travel agencies. During the Korea tourism seminar, the Visit Korea Committee had the opportunity to introduce its range of programs, including the 2016-2018 Visit Korea Year Campaign and the Korea Grand Sale. Many industry representatives attended the booth consultation session, and this was another indicator of the widespread interest in Korea tourism. K-Smile Campaign Promoted at 2018 Jeju Olle Walking Festival The 2018 Jeju Olle Walking Festival, a major autumn festival in Korea, was held on November 1. The Visit Korea Committee headed to Jeju Island to encourage the locals to participate in the K-Smile Campaign, and to give a warm welcome to foreign tourists. This is Namwonpogu Port, the departure point of the walking festival. A large crowd had gathered since early morning. The Visit Korea Committee’s booth also enjoyed a high turnout. The Visit Korea Committee welcomed visitors with a roulette wheel spinning and other events. Many locals and foreigners were interested to know more about the K-Smile Campaign and other programs organized by the Visit Korea Committee. We hope that the campaign’s message has reached everyone who attended the festival.
